Xi Jinping’s new year address

Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed 2019 with a New Year’s speech recounting the nation’s achievements over the past year and a pledge for continued reform. While acknowledging that major challenges lie ahead for China, Xi did not specifically mention its ongoing trade war with the United States.
