10,000 flying starlings come under attack by hungry falcon | SWNS TV
  • 5 years ago
This dramatic footage captures the moment 10,000 starlings come under attack from a hungry peregrine falcon hunting for its dinner. The bird of prey can be seen swooping down into the huge murmuration - the name given to the spectacle where groups of starlings fly in unison. At first, the mesmerising formation moves through the air, the thousands of bodies forming stunning patterns against the sky. Then as the falcon homes in on its target, the black mass of birds swerves to avoid it. A hot pursuit begins, the hypnotising shape of the murmuration shifting suddenly every time the predator dives in an attempt to catch one of them.
