Almost every dining room has a chandelier hanging over the table. This classic look is extra special if your table happens to be outdoors. You'll want to make sure your fixture hangs low enough to light up your eating area. It also needs to be high enough so it doesn't block the view of the guests at your table. Here's a handy rule of thumb for placing your chandelier; hang it so the bottom is at least thirty-four inches above your tabletop. If it's a big chandelier that takes up a lot of your visual space, hang it a couple of inches higher. Remember to hold it in place before you hang it, to be sure the height works for you.
