A Quandary - YouTube Love Hate Relationship

If you are one of our valued watchers you probably know that we have a love hate relationship with YouTube and it all stems down to the way YouTube treats the little channels like us. First it was the loss of monetisation which in honesty did not make a huge difference to us apart from losing maybe £100 a year but for me it's a principle thing. However, something I recently noticed was the quality degradation of our own videos when looking at the originals compared to what you guys see. It turns our that we, as a small channel get lower grade quality uploads than channels with a big following. That sucks because it seems pointless spending loads of money on good camera equipment only to end up with quality similar to that of a mobile phone when you lot watch it! The quandary I have is that I enjoy making videos but also value a high quality watching experience for our viewers and the compression that YouTube uses on our footage is really terrible. Vimeo is way better but that costs us money and has less viewers so what do we do? Have shitty video rendering all our expensive kit as waste of money or use Vimeo and get better quality and more likely less views? Maybe the solution is to get you lot to follow our blog instead as we can embed great quality video from Vimeo along with showcasing our photography and narrative text? For me that works as I want to continually improve our videos and maybe do some more cinematic stuff. We have to be careful with data so uploading to multiple services is not the greatest solution. Any of you lot got any suggestions? Are you happy with the way it is and should I just keep it as it is or should I aim higher and plumb for a mix of Vimeo and a Blog on our website?
