U.S. Officials Warn Against Downgrading U.S.-Saudi Ties

According to Reuters, senior members of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet urged U.S. senators on Wednesday not to downgrade ties with Saudi Arabia over the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. In a blog post, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that degrading U.S.-Saudi ties would be a grave mistake for the national security of the U.S. and its allies." Trump has repeatedly dismissed a CIA assessment that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered Khashoggi’s killing.
