Bargain hunters descended into Myrtle Beach Walmart in South Carolina yesterday (November 22) to secure deals on large televisions and other consumer electronics.
Footage taken of the frenzied shoppers jostling for products and space was captioned "This is getting out of hand." This feeling echoes a lot of popular sentiment over the extent of the shopping holiday.
The filmer said: "I was in Walmart, it was about 10 minutes until the deals actually started. Someone yelled 3, 2, 1, Go! I wasn’t prepared for what I saw."
He later commented: "It is a shame that people act this way on a day where we should be thankful for what we have."
Last year Black Friday sales drew 174 million shoppers in the US looking for Thanksgiving discounts.
