"Melania and I were treated very nicely yesterday in Pittsburgh," he tweeted. "The Office of the President was shown great respect on a very sad & solemn day. We were treaty so warmly. Small protest was not seen by us, staged far away. The Fake News stories were just the opposite-Disgraceful!" A number of news outlets reported the day prior to the visit that Trump had been asked to delay his trip until the victims of Saturday's shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue were buried due to concerns about stretching available security resources too far. Trump went anyway, and, according to the Washington Post, Congressional leadership declined invitations to join him, some Pittsburgh residents organized a protest, and a family of one of the victims rejected his offer to meet them. The president was welcomed by some, including Tree of Life Rabbi Jeffrey Myers, a number of officers wounded in the attack, and some of the members of the Jewish community, notes the New York Times.
