Miranda Lambert may have divorced Blake Shelton over three years ago, but that doesn’t mean she’s above dragging his name through the mud. In her new song with her girl group Pistol Annies, “Got My Name Changed Back,” she throws in a few mean jabs at her ex. At one part she croons, “Well I’ve got me an ex that I adored / But he got along good with a couple road whores.” The whole video is a bedazzled, joyful divorce party. Watch the clip above to for a taste of the raucous video.
In it, Miranda, 34, and her bandmates Ashley Monroe and Angeleena Presley are decked out in sparkles as they party at the places you have to change your name when you get divorced: a courtroom, the DMV, and the bank. The “Vice” singer takes the lead while the others sing backup, making it seem like all her digs are at her ex, Blake. And they’re not nice.
First there’s the “road whore” cheating accusation, which takes place in the courtroom. It’s an interesting claim coming from Miranda, considering she dated a married man she met on the road, Evan Felker, earlier this year. They split in August, after his divorce. Blake called her out on Twitter for the relationship. Then, Miranda’s ex Jeff Allen said that Blake was cheating on his first wife when he got together with Miranda. That’s one messy divorce.
At the end of the song, at the bank, Miranda sings, “I played to win, lookin’ back is funny / I broke his heart and I took his money.” Then the women dance, eat cake, and pop party streamers. It’s joyful and a little mean.
Gwen Stefani must not like Miranda dragging her man like this. Interestingly, that couple also met while Blake and Miranda were still married.
