James Comey: Americans 'Always Emerge Stronger From Hard Times'

James Comey tweeted Monday, "we always emerge stronger."

Former FBI Director James Comey tweeted a message on Monday that served as both words of encouragement and a slight on President Trump. He posted a picture of Mount Rushmore and wrote: "Enjoyed today's visit: An inspiring reminder that we always emerge stronger from hard times."  Comey has been a vocal critic of the president at large and his handling of the Russia investigation in particular.  He was among those who spoke out following Trump's July meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where Trump, to many, appeared to support Putin's denials that Russia interfered in the 2016 election, notes CNN. "This was the day an American president stood on foreign soil next to a murderous lying thug and refused to back his own country," Comey wrote on Twitter. "Patriots need to stand up and reject the behavior of this president."  Notably, the former FBI director was fired by Trump in May 2017.
