Passengers left stranded in Kansai Airport were shuttled out of the island on September 5 after safety inspections gave officials the go-ahead.
This video, filmed by Harry Creo at around 3 pm, shows passengers in line for the buses while an airport employee handed out bottles of water.
Creo told Newsflare that all convenience stores and restaurants, including those 24-hour ones, were closed as employees could not get to the island.
The busy airport was shut down on September 4 after strong winds from Typhoon Jebi caused a 2,500-tonne tanker slammed into the bridge that links the offshore island to the mainland.
At least eleven people have been killed and about 600 injured after Typhoon Jebi ripped through western Japan, the most powerful storm to hit the country in 25 years. Winds of up to 135 miles per hour caused widespread destruction in the cities of Osaka, Kyoto and Nagoya.
According to a transport ministry official, most of the about 3,000 people stranded at the airport have been transported out, media reported on the morning of September 6. It is unclear when the airport, which operates over 400 flights a day, could be reopened.
