Manafort guilty President Donald Trump's former campaign manager faces a maximum sentence of 80 years in prison. The jury was unable
to reach a verdict
on 10 other counts. The judge presiding over the case, Judge T.S. Ellis, declared a mistrial on those 10 counts. The guilty verdicts are considered a major victory for special counsel Robert Mueller and his team of investigators. Manafort's trial is the result of Mueller's investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government to sway the 2016 election. President Trump consistently refers to the Mueller investigation as a "witch hunt." Prosecutors contend that Manafort stowed more than $65 million away in foreign bank accounts that were hidden from foreign authorities.
