The World’s longest running motorcycle races enjoyed a vintage year in ‘88 with a 45,000 crowd soaking up 10 days of motorcycle sport unsurpassed for sheer spectacle and sustained entertainment.
They had come to see ‘pure’ road racing in its grandest form. In perfect weather conditions many records were to fall as average speeds over the 37.73 mile Mountain Course neared the 120 mph mark and the latest machinery, including the Loctite Bimota Yamahas and Honda RC30s clocked over 185 mph in places.
But would anyone usurp the ‘King’s’ crown?
Joey Dunlop, maestro of road racing, faced really stiff and ever-faster opposition in the Formula One and Senior events whilst his entries in the Junior and Production races would be equally hard fought.
In the Sidecars, Boddice and Birks were out to combine speed and reliability in both legs to fulfill a 20 year old dream for Boddice.
No less than 120 different locations around the course were used by the Videovision camera crews to capture spectacular footage of the races.
We have also included much, much more for your enjoyment, because the TT is more than a race meeting - it’s a ‘festival fortnight’ of motocycling and fun, with rallies, rock concerts, fireworks and entertainment galore packed around the racing. We're on INSTAGRAM: http://bit.ly/2evtvsg
