J&J Ordered to Pay $4.69 Billion in Cancer Case The St. Louis city court jury ordered the company to pay after 22 women said the

ovarian cancer. The case is linked to more than 9,000 similar claims. The women claimed the products
contained asbestos which caused
the cancer. The plaintiff’s lawyer argued the company knew its products were contaminated and “rigged” tests. J&J denied it and said they use the best labs for testing. This is the sixth largest product-defect award in U.S. history. Imerys SA was also sued since they provide the powder but settled the claim for $5 million. Carol Goodrich, a J&J spokeswoman, said the verdict "was the product of a fundamentally unfair process.” The company plans to appeal
