A famous White Horse was transformed into St George's Cross in a patriotic makeover - but council workers removed the red tape just hours later.

Stakes were hammered into grass around the landmark in the hills of Westbury, Wiltshire - and the tape was stretched across.

It was removed by 9.30am - three hours after it was first spotted. Brits reacted in horror on social media and said the show of support was harmless.
