LA airport strike for a day

www.EmploymentCrossing.com 1500 workers at the Los Angeles International Airport went on strike Thursday but returned to work the very next day. Thanks to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. It was crucial that this matter be taken care of because of the bustling Labor Day holiday. Mayor Villaraigosa brokered a labor truce with the companies providing ground services for major airlines. The airline services companies and the Services Employees International Union Local 1877 agreed to resume contract negotiations next week. The union has been negotiating since early July and they are seeking higher wages, improved health care coverage and more training for it’s members. The average pay of a member is around $19,000 a year. The costs of their demands would add less than .25 cents to the price of an average airline ticket.
