Behind-the-scenes pictures show brains suspended in buckets, slicing boards and test tubes packed with paint-like substances. And then there are the freezers, which go as low as -150C, with whole brains frozen in time. One of 10 in the UK, the bank in Bristol's Southmead Hospital currently has around 1,000 specimens. It's hoped examining the live organs will one day lead to a breakthrough in curing dementia.
