Car burst into flames after smashing into barrier

Witnesses looked on as the white Vauxhall Corsa was gripped by a raging blaze after ending up on the central reservation of the M8 at around 12.34pm. The incident happened near Glasgow Royal Infirmary, causing two lanes of the M8 Westbound to be closed with one lane of the Eastbound also closed. A passer-by said an unmarked ambulance was on the scene within seconds, with a paramedic rescuing the female driver from the car. She was taken to hospital as a precaution. Vehicles were able to move again once the fire was extinguished but the car was still there an hour later.
