Dedicated Dionis MacNair MBE, 85, started selling poppies door-to-door with her mother Ruth when she was just seven-years-old.
The unmarried former charity worker has continued every year since and was honoured by the Royal British Legion last week for her tireless 78-year devotion to the charity. The award comes just weeks after Britian's oldest poppy seller, Oliver Cooke, 92, jumped from a clifftop after her close friend said she "lost faith in people". Friends and family said she suffering depression caused by a number of factors including endless calls from charity 'chuggers' and relentless aid 'appeal' junk mail.
