Beauty therapist saved by dog who howled for help after heart attack

Joanna Mellor, 24, went into cardiac arrest after going to sleep next to her boyfriend Andrew Rayment, 27. The couple’s five-year-old pet Labrador Leo managed to wake Andrew up by barking at him after the pooch discovered Joanna wasn’t breathing. Quick-thinking Andrew dialled 999 and performed CPR on Joanna until paramedics arrived and she was taken to hospital. Incredibly, medics said Joanne’s heart had stopped for 30 minutes before Andrew managed to resuscitate her after she collapsed on January 2 at their home in Ilkeston, Derbys.
