ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday demanded that either former prime minister Nawaz Sharif apologize to the nation over his remarks on the Mumbai attacks or else a case be registered against him.

Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi while quoting the PML-N supreme leader as asking what was wrong in his statement asked him why he felt the need to issue such a statement or summon Cyril Almeida in Multan via special aircraft to interview him.

He said Sharif’s statement caused an uproar in Pakistan and India and that the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting was to be called to discuss the issue.

“Today Nawaz Sharif rejected the Committee’s stance. Nawaz and his daughter’s tone and tenor imply that they have wittingly done all this.”

He said even allies of the government are not backing it over the issue. He said this controversial statement has the potential of leading the country from being grey-listed to blacklisted.
