Round and round 1939 - a defense of free enterprise by toys.

Capitalism explained by toys.

In this 1939 short film, GM defends free entreprise as a sort of a benevolent perpetual motion machine that is good for everybody. (this is also the year that they claim to have lost control of the German plants essential to the Nazi war effort.)

Also it is the year that they made their display, "Futurama" (where groening apparently took the name from for his TV series)at the 1939 World Fair in New York.

The idea behind the film is simplistic and somewhat propagandistic. Also relevent is the implication during the film that free enterprise makes no profit ... hmm.

One of the first uses of the term "widget" as far as I know.
