Gov't to focus on youth unemployment, low birthrate in 2019 budget

Next year's government budget will be focused on creating jobs and tackling the nation's low birth rate.
The announcement was made by the ministry of strategy and finance today, at a meeting on local government financing.
According to the minstry's director in charge of budget, tackling youth unemployment will be the top priority.
Korea has been struggling to create jobs for young people.
And through 2021, the job market will need to absorb some 3-hundred-90-thousand so-called echo-boomers.... referring to people born in the 80s and 90s.
Another urgent issue that could affect the government's finances is dwindling number of newborns.
Last year, South Korea recorded its lowest-ever total fertility rate: 1-point-1-7.
