President Trump on Thursday credited himself for bringing the phrase "Merry Christmas" back.
"One nation under God. So important. And we say it here. A lot of people...they don't say it," Trump said during the National Day of Prayer event. "But you know what? They're starting to say it more, just like we're starting to say, 'Merry Christmas' when that day comes around."  "You notice the big difference between now and two or three years ago? It was going in the other direction rapidly. Now it's straight up," the president further noted. The alleged "war on Christmas," which was apparently waged by those opting to use the greeting "Happy Holidays," was something Trump addressed frequently during his campaign.  Since taking office, he's claimed victory in that battle on a number of occasions. "People are proud to be saying Merry Christmas again," Trump tweeted in December. "I am proud to have led the charge against the assault of our cherished and beautiful phrase. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!"
