The Vel-Vets - I Got To Find Me Somebody

"I Got to Find Me Somebody", a piece of motownesque joyful exuberance first broke in 1973 at the legendary Highland Room in Blackpool Mecca. The lead singer, Janet Terrell, also known as "Spirit", is the cousin of legendary Detroit chanteuse Pat Lewis. I dedicate this video to my old Blackpool Mecca friend, Joanne Leech, who used to stomp to this in 1973 in her platform heels. This was first recorded in 1967 and we recut it in 1998 when we were filming our marathon six disc, twenty four hour massive documentary about the entire history of the Northern Soul scene, which has 131 specially recorded performances of all the classics, and is still available on a six disc box set now. So, in 1998, after much searching, and a massive amount of detective work imaginable, we tracked them down and filmed them in an old Los Angeles theatre, organised by the late Bobby Sanders. So here they are, The Vel-Vets with "I Got to Find Me Somebody".
