The top seven Indian IT companies have seen a 43% drop in their H-1B visas, a US think tank National Foundation for American Policy found. It said 8,468 new H-1B visas for top seven Indian-based companies in the financial year 2017 was only 0.006% of the 160 million strong labour force. The companies received only 8,468 visas approved H1B petitions for initial employment in FY 2017 which was a 43% decline compared to FY 2015 when 14,792 H-1B visas were received. The Trump administration is also considering removing the H-4 visa which is granted to the spouse of an H-1B holder and many Indian-Americans are its beneficiaries.
