President Trump on Sunday blasted the Washington Post, comparing it to a "poorly written novel."
"The Washington Post is far more fiction than fact. Story after story is made up garbage - more like a poorly written novel than good reporting. Always quoting sources (not names), many of which don't exist. Story on John Kelly isn't true, just another hit job!" Trump tweeted.
The president was likely referring to a Post report on Saturday about the decline of Kelly, the White House chief of staff, as a strong figure in the West Wing.
"The recurring and escalating clashes between the president and his chief of staff trace the downward arc of Kelly's eight months in the White House. Both his credibility and his influence have been severely diminished, administration officials said," the piece notes.
Trump has repeatedly attacked Amazon and its CEO Jeff Bezos-owned Washington Post on Twitter.
"The Fake News Washington Post, Amazon's 'chief lobbyist,' has another (of many) phony headlines, 'Trump Defiant As China Adds Trade Penalties.' WRONG! Should read, 'Trump Defiant as U.S. Adds Trade Penalties, Will End Barriers And Massive I.P. Theft.' Typically bad reporting!" Trump tweeted on Thursday.
