Unfortunately, with human evolution comes unwanted happenings and circumstances. You may have heard of some of the more popular environmental accidents, like Chernobyl. But did you know about some of these? \r

5.Exxon Valdez \r
\r
There have been larger oil spills in the history of time, but the Exxon Valdez spill of 1989 brought the most attention to the environmental issues. Eleven million gallons of oil were accidently released into the Prince William Sound of Alaska, ruining the ecosystem of the area and providing irreparable damage to it . The vast leak happened just after midnight, when a ship holding the oil “struck a reef”. Conditions were only worsened by a storm that entered the area soon after, and the black waste was spread even farther. The effects of the oil spill still linger under the shores of Alaskas beaches, but at least it was a catalyst in the passing of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990.\r

4. Kalamazoo Waste\r

No, these arent just a badly burnt batch of those delicious Cheddar Bay Biscuits from the Red Lobster. Theyre creepy “tar balls” that appeared in new in Michigans Kalamazoo River. The Kalamazoo River spill, otherwise known as The Dilbit Disaster, occurred in new when an oil pipeline burst into Talmadge Creek , and eventually into its larger Kalamazoo River. It was one of the largest inland oil spills in Americas history, and forced many residents of the residing towns to leave their homes. Over eight hundred and forty thousand gallons of tar sands bitumen flowed into the harrowed waters , causing the EPA to order an emergency clean up. Upon testing, scientists worried that these contained Corexit dispersants- which are chemical compounds used to recover water from an oil spill. Coexist has been found to be incredibly dangerous to humans. It can cause “damage of the red blood cells, kidney and liver”. The EPA asserted that the compound was not used, but speculation ensued due to the historical nature of corruption in government agencies. Dr. Riki Ott, a marine toxicologist, said of the inadequacy” They just want to get it close a sign off. Its just like a huge inconvenient truth”. The company responsible for the disaster, Enbridge Inc, was initially fined three point seven million dollars in summer new, but they eventually had to pay one million and seventy seven dollars to the US Justice\r

3.Lake Victoria In Peril\r
\r
Almost half a billion people from the nations of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania rely on Lake Victoria to live. Overfishing and pollution of the popular body of water have caused a huge problem for the area. Whats worse is the pollution in the lake is not just of trash: its also contaminated with raw sewage and threatening chemicals. The fish and fauna are starting to disappear due to the diminished algae cultures in the lake. There was a huge fishing boom here in the 1970s,and the pressures of commercialism have now caused the number of fishing vessels to double, with more boats being added each year. In the beginning, the fishing industry here supplied one hundred eight thousand people with jobs. Nowadays, a crazy amount of thirty five million people rely on this lake for food or work. \r

2.Amazon Rainforest Diminishing \r
\r
It comes as no surprise that the Amazon rainforest is diminishing to smaller and smaller areas. Activities like logging and cattle farming have greatly damaged the area thats home to so much diversity. The cattle in the area are greatly contributing to the planets carbon emissions, which in turn heightens the effects of global warming. Fire season in the Amazon occurs from July to November, but because the planet is hotter, the fires last longer, burn hotter, and spread farther. Fires are also burned purposely in the area to make room for livestock and farming. Even worse, the fires that burn in the Amazon also contribute to the threatening effects of global warming. According to popular environmental advocacy organization Greenpeace, the Brazilian government has promised to banned illegal deforestation. But not until the year two thousand thirty.\r

1.Bhopal Chemical Gases\r
\r
In December 1984, the Union Carbide plant released thirty two tons of treacherous chemical gasses called methyl isocyanate in the city of Bhopal, India. Immediately, nine thousand people perished, and over the course of the week ten more thousand people were added to the toll. Overall, six hundred thousand people were subject to the effects of the gas. People exper
