WH Budget Chief: Trump's Military Parade Would Cost Up to $30 Million

Mick Mulvaney has reportedly said that President Trump's proposed military parade could cost $10 to $30 million.

Last week's headlines were dominated by President Trump's reported request for a military parade.
There was quite a bit of speculation about the cost of such an endeavor and MarketWatch on Wednesday shed some light on the matter.
According to the publication, the parade "could cost between $10 million and $30 million, depending on the length, Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney told the House Budget Committee on Wednesday."
The Washington Post reported on February 6 that Trump's "vision of soldiers marching and tanks rolling down the boulevards of Washington is moving closer to reality in the Pentagon and White House, where officials say they have begun to plan a grand military parade later this year showcasing the might of America's armed forces."
A day later, Defense Secretary James Mattis told reporters that he and others have been "been putting together some options" for review.   According to the Post, Trump mentioned the prospect last July after attending the annual Bastille Day parade in Paris, which featured numerous troops and a bevy of military equipment.  While his inspiration reportedly came from France, there are concerns that a public display of tanks and assorted large weaponry would draw associations with totalitarianism and North Korea.  Democratic Senator Dick Durbin called the possible parade "a fantastic waste of money to amuse the president" and suggested the funds instead be used to "fix military housing, hire more [Veterans Affairs] doctors...or give more flight training time."
