After Settler Killed In Attack, Israel Legalizes West Bank Outpost

On Sunday, Israel granted legal status to a previously unauthorized outpost in the occupied West Bank in response to a Palestinian attack last month that killed one of its residents. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed the decision to authorize the 50-family outpost of Havat Gilad was meant to “allow the continuation of normal life there”. Most countries consider Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, land that was captured by Israel in a 1967 war, to be illegal.
