Eric Trump On Shutdown: 'Honestly, I Think It's A Good Thing For Us'

Eric Trump weighed in on the government shutdown in a Fox News interview on Saturday.

Eric Trump, President Trump's son, has said that the government shutdown is a "good thing for us" politically as it shows Democrats in a negative light.
"The only reason [Democrats] want to shut down the government is to distract and to stop his momentum," he said during an appearance on Fox News' 'Justice with Judge Jeanine' Saturday. "My father has had incredible momentum. He has gotten more done in one year than arguably any president in history."
"So how do they divert from that message? How do they save their own party when they don't have leadership," Eric Trump added. "They obstruct. They distract. They try and place blame. Honestly, I think it's a good thing for us, because people see through it."
His interview came hours after President Trump posted a series of tweets on the shutdown.
"Democrats are far more concerned with Illegal Immigrants than they are with our great Military or Safety at our dangerous Southern Border," the president wrote on Twitter. "They could have easily made a deal but decided to play Shutdown politics instead."
Not surprisingly, Democrats blame the Republican party for the shutdown.
"This will be called the #TrumpShutdown," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer tweeted. "There is no one who deserves the blame for the position we find ourselves in more than President Trump."
