A coup attempt in Turkey began just before 10:30 p.m. local time on Friday when gunfire erupted at several locations in Ankara while military forces blocked off the Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul and surrounded key locations. An explosion also tore through a building of special police forces in Ankara. Military helicopters have opened fire at the headquarters of the MİT intelligence service in Ankara, according to the Anadolu news agency.
