How Fast Does Cooking Oil Expire?

A lot of people keep cooking oils in their pantry for way too long. After opening, a good quality oil will last about a year, but low-quality oils only last a few months. If there's an skepticism that your oil is still good, it's best to chuck it. R.L. King, chef, and owner of New York's Bar Gonzo told Business Insider, "Oil that is not opened and stored in a dry, cool place can last up to two years." One way to tell if your oil has gone bad is to taste it. If it tastes sour or sharp it's no good anymore but it isn't going to make you sick.
