LAHORE: In a dramatic turn of events, the reports of ditching courts in corruption cases are picking up public attention as sources said the reports of a meeting between PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and National Security Advisor Lt Gen (retd) Nasir Khan Janjua were fake.

Prior to Sharif’s tour of Saudi Arabia, it was reported that he held a key meeting with Pakistan’s security advisor Lt Gen (retd) Nasir Khan Janjua, wherein he was briefed about the national security ahead of his visit to the Kingdom.

The sources claimed the reports were untrue as no such meeting took at Sharif’s residence in Lahore’s Jati Umra to play down the party’s top leadership visits to Saudi Arabia.

The reports of meeting aimed at diverting public attention from the real agenda of visits as the ruling party was averse to officially comment anything about the visits, sources said.

On the other hand, the political quarters have been suspecting Sharifs are on mission either to take their old Saudi friends into confidence before adopting a major change in party ranks or striking an NRO-like deal through the good offices of the Saudi royals.

The PML-N leadership also rescheduled a public gathering in Sargodha, wherein Sharif was to make a public speech.

Meantime, the India media has also reported about a meeting between Indian Security Advisor Ajit Doval with Lt Gen (retd) Janjua in Bangkok earlier this week.

A British newspaper on Thursday reported that Sharif is likely to live in exile under a potential deal being brokered by Saudi Arabia

The newspaper, while quoting sources, maintained that the former PM was also ready to quit practical politics “without facing prosecution” and has been forced to change his preferred line of succession by naming his brother Shahbaz Sharif instead of his daughter Maryam Nawaz.
