The National Football League cancelled the final broadcast of Sunday Night Football.
According to league officials, they were concerned a late-evening football game on New Year's Eve would not be big for ratings.
The NBC broadcast typically features two playoff contenders during the final game of their season, but none of the Week 17 match-ups fit their usual bill.
So the league chose to reschedule the Sunday Night Football game for the late-afternoon.
Now, seven games will air at 1 p.m.
