PRESENTED BY XAVIER BRINKMAN
Truth teller, with a still-silver tongue. A screamer of true tall tales. From the quiet, green bosom of California comes a man who's very essence is utterly entwined with the rich and fertile lands from where he walked and where he went. The latter, Los Angeles, he now lovingly and begrudgingly refers to as home . James Byous, native to Modesto of the central valley of California, is somehow modest when he boasts and somehow quiet when he shouts. His songs are, at times, as lush as a honey-humming almond orchard in the spring-- and at some points as barren as the desert in the raw, ripping exactitude of a sand storm. His new album, Broken Ghost, is a metamorphosing smorgasbord of epic proportions with giant rolling waves of west coast country pedal steel and lyrical paths that meander thoughtfully and vulnerably through mountainous regions of philosophical introspection and self discovery. To write of him is to attempt to make a force of nature into a concept and is, of course, a fruitless and demeaning endeavor without the employment of sickly sweet poetic ramblings and verbal trappings. So let us not waste words, friend, for that would be a crying shame. With out further ado, I present my good friend, James.
