PRESENTED BY ZACHARY JOHNSON

Described by one morning TV show host as “Scooby-Doo meets The Blues Brothers,” The Super Fuzz comes across as a twisted Adult Swim pilot of mismatched characters. Cuban mafia, white rasta, Avon lady, used car salesman, vintage porn actor or NYPD lieutenant (take your pick), are all accidentally represented in a blend of 90s indie, classic rock and pop.

With influences ranging from Jellyfish and Redd Kross to The Beatles and The Beach Boys, the group makes no apologies about wearing their classic rock sensibilities on their sleeves while infusing 70s-style production reminiscent of the post-punk movement. Their debut CD, Art Noise, is a 12-song reflection of the group’s unabashed love for guitar rock and indie pop.

These Miami natives have relentlessly toured Florida since their inception last year. They performed at the Sunfest Music Festival, International Pop Overthrow and supported touring nationals like Soul Asylum, The Smithereens and Foghat. Previously known as The Chris Alvy Band, the group embarked on a preliminary CMJ national campaign in 2012 that quickly charted on a number of stations. A secondary campaign under their new moniker saw the group added to over 100 CMJ and Triple A stations nationally. They have appeared on a variety of Florida TV and radio shows, sometimes known for turning up still under the influence of the previous night’s festivities.

Frontman Chris Alvy’s background includes not only a stint as a pro ballplayer with The Yankees, Astros, White Sox and others, but also writing for international recording artists and in the house band for Mira Quien Baila, Latin America’s answer to "Dancing with the Stars."

When asked how he made the switch from pro baseball to music, Alvy
admits, “I don’t know what the #@$! I’m doing”.
