Il trio Forró do Dendê è nato nel 2009 da un’idea di Tay Santiago, liutaio e chitarrista di Salvador de Bahia , e Tulio Azevedo, zabumbeiro di Manaus. A loro si è subito unito, elemento portante della melodia, il Maestro Davide Baldi con la fisarmonica. Il trio era così formato con Tay come voce. I Forró do Dendê hanno rappresentato una novità assoluta nel panorama musicale milanese e italiano. Questo genere è infatti stato introdotto da loro, con immediato successo di pubblico. I primi passi sono stati mossi tra circoli culturali e locali nel centro di Milano.
Da li, il Trio ha cominciato a riscuotere successo ed è nata la nostra scuola di ballo Forró Milano (Forrozeiros com Dendê)
Tra il 2011 e il 2012 Chinelo ha cominciato a collaborare al progetto musicale aggiungendo il triangolo. Un tocco fondamentale per fare virare il trio verso la tradizione. Nel 2013 Tulio Azevedo ha fatto ritorno in Brasile ed è stato sostituito alla zabumba da Chinelo.
In quel periodo, pertanto, a differenza che nella tradizione, il Trio affidava la parte ritmica alla sola grancassa /zabumba. Nel 2014 anche Tay Santiago ha dovuto fare rientro in Brasile. Al suo posto è subentrato Leomar Bomfim, come voce e triangolo, facendo assumere al gruppo la definitiva connotazione nel pieno rispetto della tradizione nordestina.
Il cammino è stato quindi in salita e verso orizzonti sempre più ampi, di respiro europeo.
Nuova linfa è stata da ultimo apportata dal Maestro Mirco Maistro che ha sostituito alla fisarmonica il Maestro Baldi. Mirco Maistro viene da una precedente esperienza in un gruppo di forró (Vero Trio Nordestino) e ha collaborato con musicisti oltreoceano. Oggi i Forró do Dênde stanno lavorando su brani inediti ed è prossima l’uscita del loro primo album.
The group Forró do Dendê was founded back in the 2009 by two brazilian musicians: Tulio Azevedo, who played the zabumba (typical brazilian bass drum) and Tai Santiago, lute maker and guitarrist, who also was the voice.
They were immediately joined by an italian accordion player, Davide Baldi, who fell in love with this kind of music.
They were the first to introduce forro in Milano and for sure the first forro pé de serra trio in Italy and they got immediate approval of public, so much so that they started to have a group of enthusiasts following them in their events.
In the year 2011 the team gained another member, Jairo Sousa (known as Chinelo), forro teacher and musician, who added the triangle.
This was an important step toward the tradition, because in its original version forro is played by accordion, bass drum and triangle, while any other instrument arrived in the modern time.
In the year 2013 Tulio Azevedo had to go back to Brazil and was replaced at the zabumba by Chinelo; short after, also Tay Santiago made it back home to Brazil and was replaced by another brazilian, Leomar Bomfim, as voice and triangle.
The trio Forró do Dendê's arrangement is now definitely compliant with tradition.
The last change in the crew happened in the 2015 when Mirco Maistro took Davide Baldi's place at the accordion.
The Trio is now known all around Europe and is called to play in important events such Forro Festivals.
They are working on their first album
