Trump: Elephant Hunting A 'Horror Show,' Trophy Decision Will Be Announced 'Next Week'

President Trump on Sunday said the big-game trophy decision will be announced "next week."

Calling elephant hunting a "horror show," President Trump tweeted about the big-game trophy issue on Sunday.
"Big-game trophy decision will be announced next week but will be very hard pressed to change my mind that this horror show in any way helps conservation of Elephants or any other animal," Trump wrote in his tweet.
In the wake of widespread criticism, President Trump had tweeted Friday evening that he's putting his administration's decision to reverse the ban on import of trophies from elephant hunts on hold.
"Put big game trophy decision on hold until such time as I review all conservation facts," Trump wrote. "Under study for years. Will update soon with Secretary Zinke. Thank you!"
The president's tweet about delaying the decision came one day after the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service announced that it "will begin issuing permits to allow the import of elephants hunted in Zimbabwe."
CNN reports, citing an inside source, Trump's move to halt the policy change was "a surprise not only to interest groups," but also to the wildlife agency's "employees who oversaw the proposed change in policy."
