Sardè in Saòr (sweet and sour sardines) is the one dish you must have in Venice, Italy. It's a type of chicchetti (Venice's version of tapas) that's comprised of fried sardines marinated with onions, vinegar, raisins, and pine nuts. You can find the dish at any one of the bars (or bacari) along the canals and enjoy with a glass of wine or a spritzer. Be sure to also try baccalà mantecato (dried salted cod) and polpette (small, fried meatballs).
