Pen and Wash Watercolor Tutorial. Cape Spear Lighthouse by Peter Sheeler

  • 7 лет назад
Another Newfoundland inspired watercolor. Cape Spear Lighthouse in St Johns.\r
\r
PEN: The Uni-ball deluxe micron pen. .05 nib. These pens are extremely waterproof on my papers and can be painted over immediately.\r
\r
PAPER: \r
Arches 1401b Cold Press Paper for this Video.\r
\r
My papers of choice include Arches 140lb Hot press and Cold press paper and Strathmore 500Sketchbooks. All are 100% cotton rag.\r
\r
For beginners, I recommend starting with a high quality paper and experimenting with different types. As your style develops, youll get a feel for which type is best. Waiting to switch to a better quality paper later will be much like learning to paint all over again.\r
\r
MY PALETTE: All tube paints!\r
\r
Winsor newton- Yellow Ochre, Sepia, Burnt Sienna, Winsor Red, Davys Gray, Ultramarine, Sap Green. \r
DaVinci - Phthalo Blue, Quinachridone Fuchsia, Cadmium Yellow Lemon, Cadmium Yellow Deep.\r
\r
A note on Davys Gray: I rarely use this pigment straight and when using it I usually mix it with each colour used.\r
\r
PAINT PALETTE:\r
\r
The palette is the mixing tray from a Koi Watercolour travel set. The colours are set up so the ones I mix together most often are close together.\r
\r
BRUSH: \r
A Polar Flo 1/2 inch flat brush is my current favorite. The bristle were originally white but have become stained. \r
I often use inexpensive brushes because several of my techniques are quite abusive.\r
\r
Whenever the brush disappears from the screen it is either being wiped off or rinsed.\r
\r
REFERENCE IDEAS: come from my imagination/memory, my own photos or by painting on location.\r
