This rare, forgotten Punjabi song was originally sung by Pushpa Hans on Meena Shorye for the movie CHAMAN (1948), composed by the talented music director Vinod who realized that some songs should have been in the highly versatile voice of Lata Mangeshkar. So, he got two or three songs re-recorded in the voice of Lata Mangeshkar.

Suddenly all these songs became a hit. Then he gave more songs to Lata Mangeshkar in his next Punjabi film "BHAIYA JI" (1950) and all the songs were hit.

Most of the songs are written by Aziz Kashmiri .
As Lata ji's song was not picturized, I have compiled video the video on this version. I hope you will like it.

In 1947 most of the film producers of Lahore were made to leave their homes and hearths in jiffy and in distress. They included the owners of Shori Studio and Pancholi studios. After staying briefly in Amritsar and after recovering their film reels they all left for Bombay. Film "CHAMAN" was started in 1947 itself, but was completed and released 1st Jan. 1948. Initially most of its songs were recorded in the voice of Pushpa Hans of Fazilka.

Chaman has some most beautiful but forgotten songs:

Saari Raat Tera Takkni Aa Raah Taareyan Ton Pucch Chann Ve
channa kithaan guzarian raat ve
Rahe rahe jande aa
