Apple: Appocalypse

On Monday June 5, a new film titled “Appocalypse" kicked-off Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The film uses levity to illustrate our daily reliance on apps and how they make even the most mundane tasks easier and more enjoyable. But, more importantly, it underscores the crucial role that Apple developers play in our society.

What would the world be like without apps? How would we navigate without Waze? Who would we date without Tinder? Appocalypse begins with a newly hired Apple employee temporarily seated in a server room. When he accidentally unplugs the App Store server, he triggers a chain reaction causing apps all over the world to disappear and civilization quickly dissolves into chaos. Without apps, people are left to search a black market App Store in search of app alternatives.

Look closely and you may recognize a few familiar faces including social media influencer Brittany Furlan, giving hard copies of her selfies away, and Tinder Founder Jonathan Badeen on display for his next date.
