How times have changed.
Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the man who was accused of curtailing the power of the courts when he was prime minister, has now promised to re-establish "the rule of law" should Pakatan Harapan win GE14.
And this would include pressing ahead with plans to revive the independence of the judiciary and carrying out reforms to provide more check and balance on the three branches of government.
His comments now are bound to raise eyebrows considering the accusations that it was he who single-handedly curtailed the judiciary.
