Dramatic dashcam footage was released of Santa Barbara County Sheriff officers attempting to access a summer camp during the Whittier wildfire that ravaged the region on July 8.In a statement, the sheriff’s office and other emergency services responders spoke about their work to evacuate the Circle V Ranch Camp and the 88 campers and 26 staff and counsellors in residence.Over a four hour period, search and rescue teams navigated the civilians to safety through smoke and flames. This video shows a short section of the rescue operation.While the campers made it out safely, Circle V Ranch said critical infrastructure was destroyed during the fire and they would be closed for the remainder of the 2017 summer.
