Anika Hossain tells the story of how comics saved her life. After 9/11, Anika’s family moved back to Bangladesh after being racially profiled. She grew up there and then returned to the United States to attend Baruch College. Anika felt like she didn’t fit into America or Bangladesh.

Then, she read Marvel Comics’ Ms. Marvel by G. Willow Wilson and co-created by Sana Amanat. That and DC Comics’ comic book Trinity featuring Wonder Woman had a profound affect on Anika, a practicing Muslim.
