President Trump joked on Tuesday that his senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner “has become much more famous than me.”
The quote, which was tweeted by NBC News’ Bradd Jaffy and corroborated by CNN, was reportedly made as Trump was meeting with top Republican lawmakers from the House and Senate to talk about his policy agenda.
According to CNN, Kushner was also in attendance and, after the initial joke, Trump said in an amused way, “I'm a little bit upset about that.”
Kushner has been in the headlines since a Washington Post report revealed that he may have attempted to create a back-channel of communications with Russia.
Despite the controversy, Kushner isn’t the first person Trump has called out for receiving more attention than him; Jaffy linked his recent post to one of his previous tweets from January which includes a video of Trump singling out then-FBI Director James Comey from a group of people and saying, “He’s become more famous than me."
