As part of its charity programme, the Ravi Pillai Foundation has organised a mass marriage.
Managing trustee of the foundation Ravi Pillai told press persons that assistance would be given to 101 couples to get married. In addition to meeting the wedding reception expenses, each bride would be given four sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs.50,000 as a gift by the foundation.
The wedding ceremony was held between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on August 25 at Asramam Maidan in the city. The function was inaugurated by the Kerala Governor Nikhil Kumar. P.K. Gurudasan, MLA, had preside over the function.
Union Ministers Vayalar Ravi, Kodikunnil Suresh, K.C. Venugopal and Shashi Tharoor, Ministers from the State P.K. Kunhalikutty, Shibu Baby John and V.S. Sivakumar were also present.
A music concert M. Balamuraleekrishna, panchavadyam by Mattannur Sankarankutty Marar and performance by playback singers added attractions of the ceremony.
