If you can afford it, surrender gas subsidy, says PM Modi

Speaking at the international energy conference "Urja Sangam 2015", Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the 'well-off' people to give up subsidised cooking gas. He also expressed his government's resolve to reduce dependence on energy imports by 10 per cent by 2022. Stressing on energy security, PM Modi said India will have to be independent in this area and seek new avenues to replenish existing sources in a bid to serve the growing appetite of the people.
