Four Osprey military aircraft arrived at the Royal Australian Air Force Base in Darwin on April 28, completing the first trans-Pacific flight in Osprey history and joining a sizable group of other US Marines. This footage shows the four MV-22 Ospreys at the base. The video also includes interviews with pilots who describe the refueling and logistical challenges they faced transporting the aircraft nearly 6,000 miles from Hawaii. The Ospreys joined 1,250 US Marines and sailors who arrived in Australia’s north from Camp Pendleton in California, Sky News reported earlier this month on April 18.The military buildup is designed to bolster US forces in the Pacific while also sending a message to North Korea, which recently held live-fire drills and a failed missile launch on April 29. North Korean state newspaper Rodong Sinmun said Darwin could be the site of an upcoming nuclear conflict.
