Villanova recruit Jalen Brunson had one goal for his senior season, and he accomplished it. After leading his Stevenson Patriots (Lincolnshire, IL) to a second place finish in 2013 and third place in 2014, Brunson’s Patriots won the 2015 Illinois 4A State Title (first in school history). He finishes his high school career with over 100 varsity wins and is one of Illinois top 20 scorers of all-time (2,682 pts).
2015 Illinois Mr. Basketball, 2 x Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year, Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune Player of the Year, McDonald’s All-American, Jordan Brand All-American, the 6’2 point guard averaged 23 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists. While these are nice totals, Brunson wasn’t concerned with stats. He was concerned with winning, improving his game and maximizing and utilizing his teammates’ talents. Brunson often acted like a second coach on the floor, guiding his teammates to a 30-3 overall record, playing a national schedule for the first time in school history.
